Bead Shopping

Bangkok is a fantastic place for shopping; especially for those who love to wear, make, and buy jewelry! I spend a lot of time wandering the markets. My favorite is Chattuchuk Market; aka the Weekend Market; JJ Market. - 8000 stalls of everything imaginable to buy - from pets, fish, art work, handicrafts, school uniforms, jeans, food, etc! There are many wholesale bead and silver shops. Everytime I go - new ones seem to crop up. I do have my favorites but love to explore to discover new ones. You never know what you 'll find!

Oh how I wish I could be there shopping! What brings you to Thailand? I haven't read far enough in your posts to get that answer. We are military so have lived all over the world and traveled too. My husband was in Thailand three years ago on a military trip. He brought me back a gorgeous sapphire ring from Venus Jewelers in Bangkok.

I've been there few years ago, but wasnt into jewelry making yet, so missed out on that one! But my husband travels to Bangkok pretty regularly for biz trips, hopefully I can follow him nx time :)

I will be travelling to Thailand in 2.5 weeks...First to Phuket, then to Chang Mai and finish off 4 Days in Bangkok....we arrive late morning on the Sunday so we want to rush to the weekend market. We are staying in Siam Square, can you tell me the fastest way to get to the market and where the bead stalls we should aim for are? We are very excited any other bead shopping knowledge would be appreciated. Tks

Hi Donna K,
Tried to email you but couldn't locate an email addy. Hope you check back to see this - from Siam take a taxi - should be about Baht 150. You want to be the Gate 1 area (near the MRT subway). Section 3; Section 24 are there. I can't be more specific - as I just wander. There are always new shops. Have fun!
